Gazing Out The Windows

I was practicing the organ late this afternoon at home today, getting ready for this weekend, facing the west windows with the blinds open, playing Lasst uns erfreuen (All Creatures of Our God and King) loud, inspired, from memory, gazing out the windows the whole time, with the sun behind the clouds.
As the hymn played out, the sun then began to peek around the clouds in all its glory.
The sight of it, and the sound of it, together, made me realize, even more, that playing an organ, large or small, was not merely an esthetic experience, not just something you did because you liked it, but it was attached to something sublime, something profound.
It can open up the gates of heaven before any and all listeners, those who have an open heart.
