Try playing through 18 holes of golf without wearing the right shoes and see what happens.
We come away knowing that we have to wear a certain kind of shoe to play golf.
It should therefore come as no surprise to uninitiated choir members that their organist has brought along a pair of shoes and is changing into them at the console; it isn't a "first," as some of them are apt to think.
It simply allows the organist to play through.
