It Takes Guts

Most musicians consume music, but they don't create it for themselves.
It doesn't take THIS kind of guts (photo), but it still takes guts to be a creator, to improvise or write your own music.
It's a different kind of guts [See blog, Getting Started With Writing, Parts II, VI].
Writing or improvising some of our own music requires us to take ourselves out of our usual comfort zone and make ourselves vulnerable to risk taking, which takes more courage than simply performing someone else's music [See blog, Improvisation, Part V].
But it's infinitely more rewarding and satisfying in the end.
